CS5711 - ADVANCED SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

Text: The course is based on assigned readings from the literature. No text is required.

Prerequisites:

CS4711 (or equivalent senior level undergraduate course in software engineering). Students are expected to have had an overview of software engineering as taught in a senior-level course of software engineering from a text such as Sommerville, Software Engineering , or Von Mayrhauser, Software Engineering: Methods and Management. (Occasionally I will approve a prerequisite waiver for someone who has acquired the basics of software engineering through experience in industry rather than formal coursework.)

In addition, students should have had group programming project experience and courses in discrete mathematics and comparative programming languages.

Focus of Course::

The intent of the course is to familiarize students with current issues related to the development of large-scale software and to develop their abilities to critically evaluate and communicate about new ideas and techniques in the discipline.
