Read the following materials
  • The introduction slides 01-Intro.pdf.
  • Chapter 1 to Chapter 3 of How to Lie with Statistics by Darrell Huff. This should be an easy and quick read, but you will learn something for sure.
  • Read PART I: GRAPHICAL PRACTICE of The Visual Display of Quantitative Information by Edward R. Tufte.
  • Both books should be reserved for this course in the library this week. Ask the circulation desk for help.
